Ben Jamison

When did you start working for VeriShip?

I started in January of 2019.

What is one quality you value about your coworkers/VeriShip as a whole?

The humor.  Everybody knows how to have fun while being productive.

What is the coolest place to visit in Missouri or Kansas and why?

Timber Creek Retreat House (https://timbercreekretreat.org/).  Unfortunately, you can’t visit currently, due to Covid.  However, it is a small, luxurious retreat house that takes care of your every need so you can relax and refresh!  When they are open again, I highly recommend a weekend retreat.  It is well worth the cost!

What would your pet say about you if we asked for a reference?

“He is very snuggly, but always gets mad when I bring a fully-alive, unharmed chipmunk in the house and release it so he can play with it.  Not sure what happened to his sense of fun.  He also gives great scratches and has a pretty high tolerance for claws lightly piercing his skin while I’m trying to get comfy.”

What’s your favorite “dad-joke”?

Why will you never starve in the desert?

Because of all the sand-which-is (sandwiches) there. Ben with his wife at Costume Party

If you could only have one meal for dinner the rest of your life, what would it be?

Salad!  Fresh veggies are the BEST and you can have so much variety…  Veggie salad, fruit salad, egg salad….

If you had one extra hour of free time a day, how would you use it?

I would focus on personal growth and relaxation.

What catchy jingle or advertising bit has stuck with you for years?

When I was about 5 years old my sister and I memorized the rap for the Atari 2600 and sang it non-stop so that we would get one for Christmas.  It worked.  I still remember most of it…

“…It’s a gaming system, with classics galore… From Space Invaders to cars that roar… A real hot joystick controls the screen… Solaris is hot and Midnight Magic’s mean… And one more thing, it’s got a special low price… Under $60 bucks ($60 bucks?!)… Now, isn’t that nice?!!”

Would you rather travel back in time to meet your ancestors or travel to the future to meet your descendants?

Forward, but not to meet my descendants.  I want to be with myself when I die.  Share all the wisdom I’ve gained with my current me and as my current me, hold the sacred space for my own transition.  This, of course, assumes something natural and peaceful rather than a horrific car accident or being murdered.  In that case, I’ll meet my ancestors, thank-you-very-much!

What is something most people don’t know about you?

My thesis project for my Master’s in Spiritual Psychology (Surprise! Another degree I have!) was to write a book that I published on personal and spiritual growth.  I’ve spoken and led workshops at spiritual centers (similar to churches, but different) across the county and, last year, became an ordained New Thought minister.

Who inspires you?

People who are willing to be ruthlessly self-reflective, own their part in creating the experience they’re having, and do the inner work necessary to change.

What household activity do you enjoy?

I enjoy cooking and preparing food for my family, and others when we’re able to have people over.
