Stocking Up For the Second Wave of COVID-19
Fear of a second wave of COVID-19 is mounting, even as many states are still reporting new cases daily. The Trump Administration is racing to replenish the country’s national supply stockpile to prepare for a potential surge in cases to come.
Concerns rise on a state level regarding whether or not preparations on a federal level are adequate. Individual states have started organizing their own stockpiles to ensure they are well equipped if a second wave occurs.
In a letter to Vice President Mike Pence that was shared with CNN, Washington Governor Jay Inslee asked the administration to do more to prepare for supply shortages, saying “Our current situation will only become more dire as more businesses reopen and more Americans head back to work – putting additional strain on a system that is already unable to meet demand.”
