UPS Partners with CVS, AmerisourceBergen and Kaiser Permanente for Drone Delivery

UPS Flight Forward (UPS’ drone department) has reached agreements with CVS, AmerisourceBergen and Kaiser Permanente to deliver healthcare products via drone.

Under this partnership, UPS drones will deliver medical supplies and pharmaceuticals in record time, due to decreased traffic from road congestion. Other benefits include increased efficiency and lower cost for healthcare providers.

“As the country’s first fully-certified drone airline, UPS Flight Forward is rapidly building a robust customer base and a network of technology partners to galvanize our leadership in drone delivery,” Scott Price, UPS Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, said in a recent press release

“We’re always looking to improve convenience for customers through faster, lower-cost and more efficient delivery models,” said Kevin Hourican, President of CVS Pharmacy. “Given our focus on innovation, we’re excited to be the first retail health care company to explore drone delivery options with UPS.”

UPS Aligns With Stamps.com to Offer Extended Discounts

UPS recently unveiled its strategy to “make industry-leading logistics services more broadly available through a series of strategic alliances and agreements called the UPS Digital Access Program.” In other words, this program seeks to to simplify logistics for small-medium shippers by teaming up with large ecommerce companies – like their new partnership with Stamps.com.

Previously, shippers had to obtain rates directly from UPS. Now, those who source their UPS shipping through Stamps.com will receive a discount of up to 55% off daily rates. Also, these shippers may qualify for exemption from select fees and surcharges.

“By embedding UPS natively into popular e-commerce platforms, merchants will get the breadth and reliability of UPS’s services to more than 220 countries and territories,” said Kevin Warren, Chief Marketing Officer at UPS. “More small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) will now have access to UPS, helping them offer industry-leading delivery commitments and leveling the highly competitive e-commerce playing field.”

“This program demonstrates UPS’s commitment to the platform movement, which extends from demand generation and fulfillment to shipping and returns,” said Warren. “We aspire to broaden our reach by continuing to innovate and collaborate with additional leading platform providers that touch all aspects of the e-commerce ecosystem.”
